ABOUT US
Red Zebra Childcare Agency first evolved some 15 years ago, when the babysitter for the executive chef of Peppers Guest House was asked to look after some children staying at the hotel. As she was already babysitting, she asked a friend to help her out. From humble beginnings, word spread and the agency blossomed.
Today, we are still growing in response to the demands of visitors and locals alike, and we’re proud to say we are the premium providers of child care services in the Hunter.
As proprietor & Mum, I took over the ownership and running of Red Zebra Childcare Agency in late 2004. And whilst our name may have changed, (locals may recall Mrs Rabbit and Elva as the previous owners) many of the existing sitters have remained with us. In fact, we’re proud to say that some of our sitters have been with this business for 10 years. I think that says something about the way we operate!
As part of a stringent application process, all Red Zebra’s sitters are screened through the ‘NSW Working with Children’ checks, and as a Mum, I wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, I have another screening check which is remarkably reliable - my 3 year old son. He’s always around when I meet with new sitters, and he’s a great barometer! (After all, we know how great kids are at telling us exactly what they think!)
The majority of our sitters are grandmothers and mums – without exception, we are mature, we have common sense, and we care. We bring toys for your kids because we know you can’t pack everything when you’re travelling. Simple, isn’t it? It means you can relax - after all, isn’t that what you came to the Hunter for?
We’ve taken on the original business philosophy,
‘We only employ mature, qualified and experienced sitters, who love what they do’Finally, as a parent I understand you may feel nervous about leaving your children with someone you don’t know.
